ARE you interested in what's happening out in the rest of the world — and can't find out because U.S. media have decided they can't afford foreign news coverage? Try globalpost, a Web site created by a former cable news manager and a former Boston Globe journalist.

I heard an Associated Press honcho on NPR this morning cast doubt, but this site may well be a sign of the future.

  1. Nice complied site. The one problem I always have with folks saying how internet news sites are the wave of the future and superior to print media is that they are basically just cutting and pasting print media stories onto their website. The newspapers and AP/Reuters reporters are still doing all of the work, just folks aren't paying to get the info any more.

  2. In this instance, globalpost is using mostly its own correspondents, albeit many are part-time. But they are out and about in the real world, all over the world. Check the correspondents list.

  3. I did, and it seems a little different than the standard info-portal site. It's in my favorites folder! It looks like they're paid a pittance too, they're just doing it for the love of the game.
